Our story at Happy Hands
Happy Hands KZN is a community support initiative focused on children, mothers, and locally led care in KwaZulu-Natal.
We are beginning with a pilot project supporting Zuzu and the crèche she runs in her community. Zuzu is already caring for children and helping mothers go to work knowing their children are safe. Our role is to strengthen what already exists through practical support, fundraising, storytelling, and simple monthly reporting.
Why Happy Hands began
Happy Hands KZN began from a simple idea: many of the strongest community projects already exist. They are often led by women who are trusted, capable, and deeply committed, but who need practical support to keep going and grow sustainably.
Our first focus is Zuzu’s crèche. We want to help her continue caring for children, improve the space over time, and create more stability for the families who rely on her.
Making a difference every day
The project supports the everyday things that make childcare safe and meaningful: food, play, learning materials, hygiene supplies, a caring routine, and a secure environment.
We are also building simple systems to track attendance, spending, photos, updates, and impact so supporters can see clearly how their help is being used.
Our vision for the future
Our vision is to support locally led childcare projects that are safe, nurturing, and sustainable.
For now, we are focused on doing one pilot well. If the model works, we hope to grow carefully by supporting more women who are already creating meaningful change in their own communities.
